Persimmon Homes

MINE SHAFT CAPPING

A recently completed design and build project which received outstanding feedback from our new client Persimmon homes. This scheme was to make safe a 52m deep vacated Coal Authority mine shaft located within the boundary of a new housing development.

The design team, management and site team all worked hard on this project to complete & hand back ahead of a tight programme to allow the Persimmon home teams to continue the development.

Runcorn

CONCRETING WORKS

Huge amount of work completed and still ongoing at one of our sites in Runcorn.
The team have moved over 4000ton of earth from one side of site to the other, creating space for 6000ton of stone and 6f2 to bring the site to the customers specification.

We’ve used K-form shuttering for the concrete and now poured approximately 3500meters of fibre reinforced concrete with a brushed finish. The concrete works are still ongoing and the installation of 800 2.3ton concrete blocks have now started too.

Mott MacDonald Bentley

AUDLEY TO DUNKIRK HP GAS MAIN

Cadent identified a vulnerable location within the high-pressure gas network located in Stoke, Staffordshire. The high-pressure steel main runs through agricultural land, at the watercourse the depth of cover was insufficient, causing the steel pipe to be exposed. Our client, Mott McDonald Bentley, was asked as the main contractor to complete Wardell Armstrong’s design.

The solution was to install the Cadent approved Concrete Canvass design and reprofile the watercourse, including raising the bed 300mm over the length of the work. The project achieved outstanding feedback from MMB and Cadent for being delivered ahead of schedule, and for the excellent relationships formed by the ECK team with the Farm owner & Land agent. ECK look forward to working on our next project with MMB & Cadent after the success of this scheme.

Veolia

CONTAINMENT BUND AND SLAB

ECK Civil Engineering was appointed principal contractor by Veolia to construct a new leachate containment bund.  The works included all ground preparation, earth works, importation and compaction of fill layers, casting of slab base with triple layered steel reinforcement mesh inclusive of 125mm tank rebate. From the slab we cast the 1250mm high wall to create the bund necessary to contain the volume of leachate held in the central tank. The job was a credit to our on site team, who, on one day alone poured and finished 150m3.

Steel-Reinforced Concrete Pad

Our groundworks team successfully completed a challenging project, constructing a 350mm thick steel-reinforced concrete pad with 1250mm high bunded walls for a 135-tonne leachate tank. Despite a rocky start due to clay ground instability, the team overcame it with a 500m dig out, engineered subbase installation, aluminum wall shuttering pans, and a flawless c40 concrete pour with a power float finish.

The walls, crafted with aluminum shuttering pans and an inch tilt fillet for a rounded detail, showcased precision. After stripping, power washing, and plugging divy bar holes, the tank was ready for assembly. Kudos to the groundworks team for another superb job!
