ECK Civil Engineering were appointed to deliver critical civil engineering works supporting a major upgrade to fire protection infrastructure at The Wine Society’s facility in Stevenage. The project involved the construction of new piled water tank bases and a pump house to support a high-capacity firewater storage and distribution system.
ECK constructed two new piled tank bases designed to support water storage tanks with a combined capacity exceeding 3 million litres. Precision installation and structural integrity were essential to ensure long-term performance and stability.
Alongside the tank bases, ECK delivered the construction of a new pump house, including engine plinths, and installed new underground HDPE pipework to connect the system into the wider fire protection network. These works provide critical protection for the site’s high-value stock, including more than 18 million bottles of wine stored on site.
The project was delivered to a high standard of safety, quality and technical accuracy. The completed fire protection infrastructure provides a robust, high-capacity system that enhances site resilience, safeguards valuable assets and meets stringent fire safety requirements.
